Native Habitat Project
A US based organization with the goal to promote the restoration and management of native ecosystems. They are notable for the wide YouTube exposure of their founder, Kyle Lybarger, who makes use of the Shorts feature to gain access to a larger audience. Their use of social media to educate about the importance of native plant species is significant for the north american English speaking audience.
Mossy Earth
An international organization dedicated to the restoration of habitat around the world. They are a membership funded organization that makes heavy utilization of polished videos that document their projects in order to incentivize people to become members. Their actions can be divided into two catagories, Mossy Earth Funded Projects, and Mossy Earth Led Projects. This allows them to both have their own in-house projects, but also allows them to utilize their existing network of members to fund work by other existing organizations, which they can then utilize to create additional promotion material that supports all involved.
The most worthwhile elements of their operation to study are:
- The breadth and scope of their rewilding efforts
- Their use of membership funding to sustain their growing and ongoing operations
- The effectiveness of their video and photo documentation in driving interest in their projects and paying for membership in order to support them
- The transparency and comprehensive documentation of their organization and methodologies
